Internet access via smartphones is now more common than ever. Most websites receive 30-60% of their traffic from mobile users. If your website is not mobile friendly, than you are losing out on potential customers. A website that is not responsive or mobile ready will cause issues for users trying to access your site from an iPhone or Android.
Not only do you lose out from a bad user experience for a large percentage of your visitors, your SEO efforts will also suffer. In April, 2015 Google launched a new search engine update that ranks websites that are mobile ready higher than their non-mobile counterparts. Some key aspects of making a website mobile friendly include:
- Not using software that does not work on smartphones, such as Flash.
- Fast loading times. Smartphones often have slower internet connections than desktops.
- Links and buttons are big enough and far enough apart to be easily clicked on.
- No horizontal scrolling required, or no zooming in required to view text or other website content.
